The chief function of a printer driver is to connect the printer to a computer. It facilitates all the communications that occur between the computer and the printer or vice versa. Any malfunctioning of the drivers can affect a printer and even cause it to stop working altogether. A failing or corrupted printer driver can prevent the data transfer between the printer and computer. This will stop the printing function and even causes some errors to develop.
Some of the issues related to the drivers stem from it being incompatible with the printer model. In such cases, a replacement of the driver software is necessary. However, this does not always resolve the problem and the printer may still exhibit issues like trouble printing and lack of communication between them. While troubleshooting printer issues, it is best to start with the driver, as it is the likely cause of all issues. Below are some ways to fix printer driver issues.
Most likely, an outdated driver is the reason why the printer fails to print or carry out its other functions. Identifying whether the printer driver is outdated is the first step.
